If you have posted bond for a Defendant, you should carefully read the Bail Bond form you signed when posting bond. It states “NOTICE TO PERSON PROVIDING BAIL MONEY OTHER THAN THE DEFENDANT:I hereby acknowledge that I have posted bail for the defendant named above. I further understand that the bail may be used to pay costs, attorney’s fees, fines, or other purposes authorized by the court and if the defendant fails to comply with the conditions of bail bond, the court shall enter an order declaring the bail to be forfeited.Regardless of the amount posted, the Clerk shall retain 10 percent of the bond amount as bail bond costs. The bail bond remains pending on the case until there the case is closed or there is a court order applying or refunding the bond. The Clerk will mail the refund to the address listed on the Bail Bond form.

You may file a Motion and Notice of Motion with the Circuit Clerk’s office. You can request a court date and time from the Circuit Clerk’s office and then e-file your documents. It is your responsibility to make sure the other party gets copies of the documents you filed. You find form and instructions on filing motions at https://www.illinoiscourts.gov.

It would be improper for a judge to speak to a litigant without the other parties available. You can speak directly with the judge upon filing a written motion with the Circuit Clerk’s office, scheduling a court date, and filing notice of said court date. It is your responsibility to provide notice of the hearing and the motion to the parties involved. At your court date, you may present your motion to the judge.

Warrant information is not disclosed over the phone. Failure to pay/failure to appear warrant information is available in person in room 204.

Of course! E-filing is available in all civil and criminal cases. E-filing is not available for traffic tickets or ordinance violation tickets. E-filing allows people representing themselves to file into a court file from the convenience of their own home. You don’t have to come into the courthouse to file your documents anymore.
